Watch out for VA psychiatrist overdiagnoses of bipolar spectrum so that they can try to control veterans more closely. As everyone knows, VA psychiatrists are little more than pill pushers who seldom see most of their patients for more than 15 minutes every 3 months. Not only is the new trend is to get rid of some PTSD patients by pawning them off on some other disorders but the VA docs will take a two-minute conversation and write up a whole page and half med report on it like you have a serious case of bipolar disease rather than the PTSD that the VA has been treating for the past 20 years. That a way they can get rid of the more troublesome VA patients and put them on some of the heavy meds - making damn sure that the VET is looking like a beautiful vegetable similing. Of course there are some great VA psychiatrists who are overworked out there but there are enough of those lazy assholes drawing a govt dole that ought to be fired but no one in the VA will take the steps necessary - so vets get ready for the new meds and the new diagnoses. The new remake of "Article 99" and its prescriptions are just around the corner. see also http://chaada.org/smf/index.php?topic=325.0
